• Weird Ways we Save Money

Don’t have TV We share food at restaurants don’t buy drinks We cut our own hair occasionally dye my own We don’t buy lunch – prepare homemade lunch Pick up free things off the side of the street Buying nearly expired food (sometimes expired) – Yeah you might this is so gross but it’s not!! So much food is wasted because food is “expired” when they are totally still fine to eat! I love to go to the discounted items in the grocery store and stock up on things that are nearly bad or expired they are perfect to freeze or eat that same day! Don’t watch latest movies or get the latest…

  • How I paid $0 for my New Wedding Dress

I can go on and on about how crazy our society is about spending ridiculous amounts on weddings! Take me back to the old days where we just went to the church and got married and came and had a family lunch!!! Obviously my philosophy on weddings are very different from most. I believe the wedding day is not worth being broke for and real love and work begins after the wedding day. I also believe that you can make great memories without breaking the bank!! But this post isn’t about that, I will save that rant for another day! Today I want to help you frugal brides save some…

  • 4 Years of “Free” Housing

Something that I talk regularly and openly about is how my family live for pretty much “free.” In the Financial Independence realm they like to coin phrase this term #househack. We managed to househack for the entire marriage without even knowing about #househacking. I credit all of this free housing to divine intervention and luck. (definition: preparation and opportunity intersect) If you haven’t really heard of househacking take a look at some of these fun articles from the experts at BiggerPockets and also Coach Carson who is a househacking and real estate guru. So the first one isn’t technically a true definition of househacking but I’m going to count it because,…

  • Minimalist Wardrobe 2016

As you know for those who have been following my youtube channel I just did a post about values that I wish to live by this year. One of those is that of simplifying. To start off this whole simplify theme in my life I have decided that I want to start off with my wardrobe. As you can see by this picture it is a huge ugly mess of clothing everywhere. By minimizing my clothing, the hopes is I will also be better organized. After getting everything thrown in the pile, I organized the dresses, shirts, pants and skirts etc into their own individual piles. After getting them in…

I think all new mothers have mixed emotions about their child’s first birthday celebrations. You either dread it or are crazy excited to be planning everything I myself have kind of spaced out on this but need to get my butt into gear seeing her birthday is only 2months away. So today I have decided to share in some of the planning with you, and help you out if you are planning your own birthday party. We have decided to keep it simple and easy, but still wanted it to be memorable for us and the other children. 1. Budget:  If you have set aside money for this event this is…

  • DIY ModPodge Recipe

I have now made two crafts with this  DIY mod podge recipe. And I don’t think I will ever be needing to buy any particular modge podge for this type of project. I used this recipe but adjusted it after reading the reviews. I used this for my Lampshade project and my Bowl Project. If you are doing something different I would test it in a smaller ratio just in case it doesn’t turn out quite right. The magic modpodge recipe 2 Cups of Flour 1 Cup of Sugar Between 1-3 cups of Water but keep adding until it’s perfect for your project (not too thick or too watery) Add Tbsp…

  • DIY Yarn Lamp Shade

Doing this Yarn lampshade has been on one of my to do lists since we moved into our house. I had initially wanted to do a doily lampshade as they went along much better with my vintage theme I have going on in my living room. But I didn’t find enough doilies to do this project and I had plenty of yarn! I have finally come around to doing it. Yay and it was a lot easier than I had expected. I didn’t want to spend any money of course on expensive big balloons. Initially I was going to use a balloon but I really wanted something bigger and not…

  • DIY: Easy No Sew Nursing Cover

Turn your old maxi skirt into a fun Nursing Cover. Who could have thought this would be my life saver. As my little munchkin is approaching her 7month mark she is getting a lot more mobile, interested in the world around her which makes feeding time a little bit trickier. I have been following some fun mommy blogs and came across some mothers using these awesome infinity scarves which double as nursing covers!!! I love the 360 degree coverage!!! Check these out if you aren’t into the whole DIY thing! But if you want to go further…

  • DIY: Glassware

So I may have a little obsession with glass objects & SPRAYPAINT!! Well you can’t blame me if there are tonnes of funky things you can do with them!! With being on a tight budget I can’t buy a lot of the super cute things I drool over in Target or other home decor places so that means I have to get a little creative… You may wonder how I come up with projects. Well to tell you the truth I am a hoarder. I can’t and don’t throw things away because I always think I can turn it into something else. So if I am tempted to throw something away I…
